Earlier this year, speculation about the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’s smartphone being hacked by threat actors tied to Saudi Arabia shed light on an important truth -- that hackers at the nation-state level are capable of weaponizing advanced mobile spyware against executives and other corporate targets. But whereas the Bezos story focused on the risks of existing data stolen from a smartphone, less attention has been paid to the risks of data captured by remotely activated cameras and microphones built into an executive’s compromised mobile device.
